Our client is a clean technology company specializing in technologies that enhance the motor and battery capacities for electric vehicles (EV).
Highly detailed processes and controlled environments (cleanrooms) are essential to manufacturing semiconductors for electric car components, as even the tiniest dust or contaminant can corrupt a component and render it non-functional.
To scale production, they needed high-quality cleanroom spaces for their surface-mount technology (SMT) and printed circuit board (PCB) assembly lines.
MECART provided over 9,000 square feet of class 10,000 clean room space (ISO 7 cleanroom) for PCB and SMT manufacturing. It’s their largest cleanroom construction to date!

Cleanroom manufacturers that offer a truly freestanding cleanroom structure are rare, and MECART is one of the few that delivers!
Our freestanding cleanrooms are made from self-supporting panels. This means that no attachments are made to the roof or walls of the host building. This was just one of the multiple reasons our client opted for MECART’s cleanroom solutions; they wanted the cleanroom to support the equipment and HVAC ductwork on top of the cleanroom without being tied to the main building.
A roof might require structural adjustments to sustain the 20-30 lbs./per square foot (the typical weight of our rivals’ ceilings with HVAC). A freestanding cleanroom might save you $50,000 to $250,000 in roof reinforcement, load capacity engineering studies, or both, depending on the size of the cleanroom and your roof situation.
Thanks to our engineering expertise, our self-supporting cleanroom panel technology can support heavy loads, which creates a solid structure, making our cleanroom ceilings walkable.
This feature allows easy access for maintenance personnel who frequently need to check equipment, change filters, and perform other maintenance to keep the cleanroom running properly and avoid production problems.
The large span of the ballroom cleanroom created a challenge to make the ceiling walkable but was nothing the MECART engineering team couldn’t solve!
Metal beams were installed to reinforce the ceiling structure (shown in black in the photo) in order to support the weight and still be walkable, even with the ballroom design.
No internal columns were needed to reinforce the structure. The only internal columns found inside the cleanroom are service and utility columns.
